New Windows 10 22H2 beta fixes memory leaks and crashes

Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 22H2 beta (KB5041582) with memory leak and crash fixes for Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview channels.
The company says the KB5041582 update fixes an issue causing some apps to stop because of a memory leak in a Bluetooth device and an Input Method Editor (IME) memory leak occurring when closing combo boxes with input focus.
It also addressed a Bind Filter Driver bug that caused impacted systems to freeze when accessing symbolic links and a restart issue triggered by a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) task not being able to re-enable Unified Write Filter (UWF) because of a deadlock.
“The Beta Channel and Release Preview Channel will receive the same Windows 10 builds; however, the Beta Channel is where we will try new features out with Insiders that we’re working on that are not yet ready for all Windows 10 customers,” the Windows Insider Program Team said on Thursday.
KB5041582 is now available for Insider systems running Windows 10, version 22H2. Once installed, it will update the version to Build 19045.4842.
Windows 10 Beta channel reopened after three years
Microsoft reopened the Windows 10 beta channel in early June and announced the first Windows 10 Beta build since 2021, three years after the last such build was released for Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview channels.
“To bring new features and more improvements to Windows 10 as needed, we need a place to do active feature development with Windows Insiders,” the Windows Insider team said on June 4.
“So today, we are opening the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders who are currently on Windows 10. This will allow us to try out new features for Windows 10, version 22H2, with Insiders before releasing them to all Windows 10 customers.”
Insiders who want to test new Windows 10 features and fixes as soon as they’re available should join or switch to the Beta Channel by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program and choosing the Beta channel after clicking on the current Insider channel selection to get to the settings page and the list of available Insider channels.
However, switching to the Canary or Dev channels will upgrade their devices to the latest Windows 11 build available for those channels. It’s also important to note that Microsoft will not immediately upgrade the systems and give users a brief period to roll back to Windows 10, which will require a clean install.
