Kaseya CMO Mike Sanders Gets New Revenue Chief Role To Continue ‘Aggressive Growth Trajectory’

Kaseya has tapped Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sanders as its chief revenue officer, a new position, to continue the company’s rapid expansion and strategic focus.

Sanders joined Kaseya in 2021 as executive vice president of account management before becoming CMO in 2023. As CMO, Sanders led Kaseya’s transition to having the naming rights to the Miami Heat’s Kaseya Center and spearheaded the marketing efforts around Kaseya 365, the company’s latest product that allows MSPs to manage, secure, back up and automate all their clients’ environments through one subscription and one license.

According to Sanders, his move reflects the Miami-based vendor’s ongoing adaptation to its fast-paced growth. Chief Communications Officer Xavier Gonzalez is taking over marketing responsibilities while Sanders assumed additional go-to-market responsibilities, according to a Kaseya spokesperson.

“When you’re growing at our rate, you have to constantly reassess and adjust the organizational structure,” he told CRN in an exclusive interview. “It’s a natural part of our evolution.”

He said that while the title change may seem significant, the shift is more about refining focus rather than a complete departure from previous responsibilities.

“In my previous role as CMO, I was already involved in strategic sales and global sales aspects,” he said. “The transition to CRO is a continuation of that work with a more concentrated emphasis on driving revenue and growth.”

Several key initiatives he will tackle aimed at enhancing Kaseya’s market position and supporting the MSP community include the expansion of Kaseya 365, AI and automation, particularly around onboarding and offboarding processes, and a year-long roadmap focused on improving MSP profit margins.

“We’ve got a significant roadmap ahead, starting with our DattoCon event in Miami,” he said. “We’re rolling out a multi-step plan to address the unit economics of the MSP industry, which we believe have been unfairly skewed. MSPs average a 10 percent profit margin, whereas other business services enjoy higher margins despite similar criticality to their clients.”

Kaseya’s upcoming DattoCon event in October will feature new additions to Kaseya’s offerings, with Sanders only teasing that the big announcement will be around a new addition to IT Complete, Kaseya’s unified solution that integrates a broad spectrum of IT offerings such as remote monitoring and management (RMM), professional services automation (PSA) and IT service management (ITSM) into a single, cohesive suite. Other major updates will be announced January and April of next year.

“We’ve got a big announcement coming that will add a new dimension to our solutions,” he said. “I believe it’s going to generate even more excitement than our previous launches.”

Additionally, he stressed the importance of expanding the company’s partner-first initiatives through its Partner First Pledge, “We’re looking to build on that momentum with more direct benefits for our MSP partners.”

He also addressed the evolving tech landscape and how AI fits in.

“AI is a game-changer, but it’s essential to use it pragmatically,” he said. “We’re focused on integrating AI in ways that provide meaningful insights and enhance efficiency for our partners, such as through our CoPilot feature and automation tools.”

Going forward, Sanders sees “immense potential” for growth in both the MSP market and Kaseya’s position within it.

Michael Goldstein, CEO of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based LAN Infotech, said Sanders has “always been super available” to partners when they need it most.

“He’s always trying to enhance the MSP channel and has great communication with us,” he told CRN. “All of the management team at Kaseya has been accessible, and I think that’s important. He’s always been a non-controversial spokesperson and I think that that’s key. And we’re really excited to see what the next announcements will be around Kaseya 365 at DattoCon that will help us with our bottom line.”
