Nima Momeni’s sentencing is set for Jan. 10.
A San Francisco jury found the owner of a California-based solution provider executive guilty of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Cash App founder Bob Lee Tuesday, according to multiple news outlets.
Nima Momeni, previously described on a LinkedIn account as the owner of Emeryville, Calif.-based Expand IT, was found guilty of second-degree murder, according to TV news outlet KRON4. The LinkedIn account appeared to be no longer online Tuesday morning. Momeni’s sentencing is set for Jan. 10.
Momeni, 40, faces a sentence of 16 years to life in prison, according to KTVU. The jury found him not guilty of the more serious charge of first-degree murder, which would have come with a potential 25 or 26 years to life sentence. First-degree murder would mean that the attack on Lee was premeditated.

California Solution Provider Found Guilty
CRN has reached out to Momeni defense attorneys Tony Brass and Zoe Aron for comment. News outlet Mission Local quoted Brass as saying “this is a very painful day and this is not the end of this journey” after the verdict.
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said in a press conference streamed online she is satisfied with the jury of 12 people’s findings. The jury deliberated for seven days after the prosecution and Momeni’s legal team presented their cases.
The 2023 killing prompted reactions from the likes of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who criticized safety in San Francisco as a result of Lee’s murder.
Momeni himself testified during the trial, saying he killed Lee, 43, in self-defense.
Along with founding Cash App, Lee was credited with developing the Android mobile operating system during his time at Google.
Momeni’s Expand IT described itself as providing “IT outsourcing” and “technical support and fulfillment solutions at scale to startups, SMEs, public sector, and nonprofit organizations” on its website.
