‘Unfortunately (our business review) has resulted in an action taken today that eliminated a number of roles globally,’ a CSG spokesman tells CRN.

Cloud Software Group–whose companies include Citrix, Tibco, NetScaler and XenServer–has confirmed to CRN that the vendor conducted layoffs worldwide, with LinkedIn posts from former workers revealing cuts of engineers, technical account managers and other roles.

A spokesperson with the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based cloud and virtualization technologies vendor told CRN in an email Tuesday that “as Cloud Software Group moves toward its ultimate goal of becoming a $20+ billion diversified software company, we believe that our ability to scale rests largely on our operating model that leverages simplified business processes, employee synergies, and disciplined fiscal decision-making.”

“In line with that belief, the company continuously reviews its business and how it operates to ensure success,” the spokesperson said. “Unfortunately that has resulted in an action taken today that eliminated a number of roles globally. Cloud Software Group remains committed to investing in innovation, additional product offerings, and top-notch talent to achieve even greater successes in bringing the highest quality products and services to market.”

CSG Layoffs

The spokesperson did not say how many people CSG laid off and from what parts of the company.

The news comes weeks after Citrix closed the acquisitions of Germany-based deviceTrust and Switzerland-based Strong Network in a move to boost its security and cloud development environment capabilities. CSG also did layoffs in January 2024.

Sridhar Mullapudi, executive vice president and general manager of Citrix, told CRN at the time the vendor is still looking to do more acquisitions in 2025.

The vendor has also been at work investing in its channel partner program, including pushing all billable services to the channel.

Former CSG employees posted to LinkedIn to confirm their layoffs. Among those cut from the vendor are:

• A senior quality assurance (QA) engineer with Citrix for more than 16 years
• A senior technical account manager (TAM) with Citrix for about 12 years
• A senior TAMwith Citrix for about nine years
• A senior escalation engineerwith CSG for about two years
• An escalation engineer with Citrix for about 10 years
• A principal software engineer with the vendor for more than 12 years
• A senior virtualization escalation engineer with Citrix for about six years
• An employee communications coordinator with CSG for about two years
• A lead escalation engineer with Citrix for about 13 years
• A principal escalation engineer with Citrix for about 19 years
• A global travel manager with Tibco and CSG for about nine years
• A senior software engineer with Citrix and CSG for about eight years

Employers and employees alike have been watchful in the artificial intelligence era for what roles AI will replace and what new roles AI could create. The year 2024 saw more than 150,000 tech jobs cut by employers–AI related or otherwise–according to a count from Layoffs.fyi. That number is about 43 percent less than the 263,000-plus tech jobs cut in 2023.
